Portgas D. Ace (One Piece Brotherhood Set)

Last December I got the Soul of Chogokin GX-79 Voltes V. Voltes V was very popular in the Philippines and it was a big deal when I was a kid. To follow that up, I decided to get another anime figure that is based on a more recent anime. I got a One Piece figure set.

I got the Banpresto One Piece DXF Brotherhood set from an online seller. This is a 3-part set that is composed of Luffy, Ace and Sabo in a triangular pose. Today we are featuring Portgas D. Ace. He is the son of the Pirate King Gol D. Ace and is the adopted brother of Luffy and Sabo. He is also one of the division commanders of the Whitebeard Pirates with Edward Newgate as the captain.

The Ace figure is standing on a platform that was meant to look like magma with flames around him. It makes sense since his powers are all flame-based. The overall detail of the figure is pretty spot on. The face and body is fairly detailed. They were able to capture Ace’s looks from the anime. Pretty impressive.

When combined with Luffy and Sabo this figure was meant to stand with his back facing you. It might be disappointing to some since you can’t see his face but still his pose was done beautifully. The details of Ace’s back is as impressive as the front. You have cleanly painted Whitebeard tattoo sitting on a well sculpted muscular back.

Overall I will give this Ace figure a 7 out of 10. It is a well done figure but was let down by an uninteresting stand. Buying this brand new online costs around $40. For that price I expect a more polished, lively looking flames suitable for Fire Fist Ace.
